Only 1 in 10 people who suffer a cardiac arrest outside hospital will survive.
Would you know what to do if someone close to you had a cardiac arrest? Lymington u3a is offering 20 members the chance to be trained to do CPR and to learn how to use a defibrillator. Our trainers will be from the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance.
This event is for fit members who can kneel on the floor and pump a dummy’s chest energetically, so please think carefully before applying.
You will learn how to assess a patient, call for help, perform effective chest compressions, and how to use a defibrillator. Importantly it is about keeping someone alive until professional medical help arrives.
The trainers will bring their training manikin and defibrillator for you to learn and familiarise yourselves with CPR by correctly carrying it out with a trainer watching

The Air Ambulance volunteers do not charge for this training. However, we shall charge you £10 so that we can make a donation from those of us who attend to the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance charity. Lymington u3a will meet the cost of the hire of St Thomas Hall for the training from our funds.
This training will take place on Friday 3rd July at 2.30 pm, finishing before 4.30 pm.
