Shakespeare

We are an ambitious group, aiming to read the whole of the canon together!

Our approach is to have a general introduction to the play, to read it aloud, and to discuss whatever seems relevant – politics in Coriolanus, morality in Measure for Measure, poetry everywhere etc.

Sometimes we watch a DVD, or take a trip to the Globe or Stratford on Avon, and occasionally we read a connected contemporary play (e.g. The Tamer Tamed, after The Taming of the Shrew).

No preparation is required for any session, though if someone has missed a session it’s useful to read through what’s been missed.
