Some of you may have made a similar trip some years ago and many will know Lyburn, an award-winning cheese-making company on a small farm in the north of the Forest.  We are extremely lucky to be allocated one of only 4 group visits this year.

Our tour will be by tractor and trailer, lasting about 90 minutes, so a certain amount of mobility is required!  And we are told to wear trousers and jackets! We will look at the farm land, the herd of about 170 cows, the organic vegetable scheme and learn a little of the Smales family who have farmed here for over 40 years.  We do not have access to the cheese plant. The evening ends with a (generous) cheese ploughman’s supper (under cover).

This visit will go ahead regardless of the weather so please dress appropriately.

This trip is organised by the Garden Appreciation Group but is open to all Lymington u3a members.

Coach departs from the usual place behind M&S at 5.30pm with a view to arriving by 6.30 for a 6.45 start.  We should be back in Lymington by 9.45pm at the latest.  And as this is almost the longest day of the year, it will still be light!

The cost to include coach, driver’s tip, tour and supper is £33.  Any profits at Lyburn will go to charity.  There are a maximum of 20 places.
