Lymington

Events

All our forthcoming events, whether they are the next in a regular programme or a one-off event, are listed in the Dates for Your Diary section further down this page.

On the first Thursday afternoon of every month, except July, we have a meeting with a Speaker, who gives a 50-60 minute talk on an interesting topic, followed by Questions and Answers. The Topics are extremely diverse, such that over time an eclectic range of subjects to suit everyone is covered.

These meetings are held in the Gates Hall at the Lymington Centre and you do not need to book to attend these meetings, which are open to all members.

Tea is available after the talk and this is an opportunity for some social chat and to talk to our committee members and other volunteers.

(Non members may attend twice as guests - £2 per visit)

Twice a month we have an informal coffee meeting - check the diary dates below.

We meet at 10.00 am (until 12.00ish) in the Solento Lounge, which is in the old Barclays Bank building on the south side of the High Street. All Lymington u3a members are welcome to come. There is no need to book - just turn up. The staff are very friendly and do their best to accommodate our needs. The disabled access is excellent, and there are games galore if the conversation should ever dry up (which is very unlikely).

A short (approximately 20-minute) 'TED TALK' video on a thought-provoking theme is shown, followed by informal discussions in small groups.

The concept originated in the USA, where the talks initially focused on Technology, Entertainment and Design – hence the name “TED Talks” – but they now cover a huge range of diverse topics, from science to business to global issues.

TED Talks are held on the third Monday of every month (except public holidays) from 10.00am, when coffee is served, to 11.30am in the Lymington Centre Gates Hall

You do not need to book to attend these meetings, which are open to all members.(Non members may attend twice - £2 per visit)

QUESTERS Need help

Questers trips and visits are outings organised to visit places of interest. Sometimes they are to places not normally open to the public.

Unfortunately after leading this group for quite a few years our Questers Trips organiser has stepped down and at present nobody has offered to take it on.

If you think you might have an interesting talk please contact our Speaker Secretary (Karola) who will be arranging our programme of talks for 2026.
