History - Military, Aviation and Naval

We agree an historical naval or military topic for discussion at each meeting.

No prior knowledge is required but obviously an interest in either naval or military history including RAF/air warfare, ancient, medieval or modern is desirable. It is certainly not just for men, nor do we simply focus on battles or warfare. For example our first topic for discussion was “Art and Artefacts of Waterloo”.

Each group member in turn chooses two topics relating to military or naval history that they are prepared to lead on with a short (10 minute talk). They also a provide links to other members of the group from YouTube/articles/media etc. that can be looked at in advance.

Group members are encouraged to focus on particular aspects of their experience or those of their families. For example a member may have a relative who fell in the First World War and would like to talk about them and where they fought and so on.
