This Group was formed out of the desire of some members to keep themselves well-informed about the latest findings and developments in science, technology, medicine and engineering – which these days affect all aspects of our lives. We cover as wide a range of subjects as we can, chosen from topic ideas suggested within the Group. Recent examples include “Water quality”, “Nutrition”, “Concrete” and “AI”. Where we can, we draw on the specialist knowledge and wide experience of Group members or their contacts, for presentations and questions. Alternatively, sometimes we will choose a topic to look into as a Group and discuss what we learn, perhaps with individuals looking at a few different sub-topics or perspectives.
We’re a friendly and enthusiastic bunch, and no scientific or technical background is necessary to join – just an interest in understanding the realities behind the headlines. If you are free on between 1 and 2.30pm on the 3rd Wednesday of the month, why not come along and try us?
